Where to go for your hair.

So the secret is out...I am not a natural blonde. I have been to dozens of salons, in Philadelphia, and in the suburbs, but most visits ended in disappointment. Somehow, my blonde ends up orangey...if that is even a word.
Once a blonde finds and amazing spot, we hate to give it out, because, frankly, it'll be that much harder to get an appointment. 
But I'll share it with you anyway...and hopefully, good Karma will find me.
Her name is Trisha, she's the owner of Barberella, and she is FABULOUS. The Salon is located on Butler Pike in downtown Ambler.
My blonde is blonde...and my cut is great.(although please don't go by my real estate photo-those things are brutal!)

Snow ice cream

I am from Maine...so this snow is not so impressive. It is however, completely annoying. But in the spirit of turning lemons into lemonade, let's turn snow into ice cream.

It's really pretty easy.

First, gather some clean snow...about a gallon's worth.
1 cup of white sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of milk


Simply add the sugar and vanilla in the snow, until you like the taste. then stir in just enough milk, for the desired consistency.

Voila!

Feel free to experiment with toppings and syrups.

It's about Flipping Time!!!

So, aside from being a realtor, I also am an investor, along with my husband. For years, we bought up multi unit buildings in University City...which we kept for rental income. Back in the good old days, you could just call a mortgage company, and ask for money. No documentation needed. For better or for worse, things are much different now. Once the mortgage shift happened, it didn't take long for us to figure out that we needed a different game plan.  That's where our flipping venture began. We started with a small row home in South Philly. We bought it at sheriff sale with our little nest egg... and we were able to turn a major profit in just two or three months. It wasn't a 6 figure profit, but it sure was close. After quite a few flips in the city, and our investment egg growing, we decided to turn to the suburbs. And what better place than Upper Dublin. It's got a great school district, and their downtown, which is Ambler, is ever growing. I just thought I would share with you, our latest flip, which took place on Hartranft.  It's located "across the street" from Ambler boro.  This house was more of a restoration, than it was a flip. I just love an old house...and this area is the perfect place to find them.

It's restaurant week in Ambler!

Restaurant week is back, and is running from January 13th until the 20th. Now's the perfect time to check out some new restaurants, or, hang out at one of your old favorite spots!

Park it in Ambler!

Ambler boro is just .8 square miles, but the boro has found room to pack in several parks, and it is safe to say, there is something for everyone. Jean Thompson Park, located at Chestnut and Center streets, is perfect for your tiny tots.  It has plenty of swings, and slides geared towards the younger folk. There are also two basketball courts around the corner for those slightly older children.

Ricciardi park, located on Hendricks, between Mt. Pleasant and Tennis avenues...has something for everyone. It also has a tot lot, for smaller children, but its big draw is a multi purpose court area, for roller blading, roller hockey, skate boarding, and anything else you can think of. There is a walking trail which is lined with trees, for those who just want a bit of nature.

Knight Park located on South Main street, between Church and Bannockburn, packs a playtime punch with 2 basketball courts, 2 bocce ball courts(under the lights for those night time games) and a multi purpose court, for all things on wheels. Don't forget the little league baseball field, picnic pavilion, lots of grass, and more play equipment for those tiny tots.'

Pickering Field, located at Park and Highland Avenue, is mostly used for organized sports, like T-ball, baseball, and softball. There are swings, and a slide, as well as another basketball court.

Ambler Borough park, located off of Hendricks street, at Edgewood drive, is perfect for all of us nature lovers. It's a narrow 8.6 acre park that runs along side Rose Valley Creek. 

And finally, the newest addition to Ambler Borough is the skate park, located within Knight Park.

The skateboarder's paradise opened September 2011, and it has been rocking and rolling ever since.
